ImageToText
Turn your scanned images containing text into full-text documents using OCR.
ImageToText is an OCR application that transforms any text present in an image file into editable text, which you can then copy, paste, and modify.
The OCR task itself takes place automatically as soon as an image file is loaded into the program’s interface. This is divided into three panels – the first panel (from the left) shows you all the images loaded so far, the second shows the last image loaded, and the third shows you the text that ImageToText has been capable of recognizing in the image. The text in this panel may change every time you open a new image file or can be appended to the previously existing text. This second option is very useful when trying to recover text from a multi-page document which has been divided into various image files.
The OCR process is extremely fast, and it happens as soon as an image file is selected, without requiring any further intervention on your side. There are no complaints about this issue. The quality of the text extraction is a different matter, though – the results are mixed, and the overall quality leaves ample room for improvement. It is true that the quality of the text in the source image is a crucial factor, but after testing various samples of image files of varying quality, I can say that the recognition algorithm could use some improvement.
